green room birthday show, new-old demos, etc.

April 19th, 2006

Hey folks!

Sorry about the lacuna…I just realized that it’s been over a month since I last posted here. Rest assured, though, that we’ve been quite busy in the interim. Shows have been played, CDs have been sold, body parts have been autographed. (OK, not sure about the last part…maybe some less-scandalous parts, like wrists or knees…)

Speaking of shows, we’ve got a real killer on the horizon. We’ll be playing at the Green Room (right next to the Showbox) on Wednesday, April 26, followed by our good friends Bill Patton & the Credentials. This will be a very special show, as it’s doubling as my birthday party, so please come out and help me celebrate! The show starts at 8pm, and we play first. Cover is $5. Those in attendance might just receive a special gift, too…there’s only one way to find out!

We’ve also got a great show coming up at the Mars Bar on Sunday, May 7. We’ll be playing with Southerly, an awesome songwriter from Wisconsin, as well as two great local acts, Patience Please and Aheartlesssolution. The show starts at 8pm, and we play last, around 10:30pm. Cover is $6.

While this will come as no surprise to the more-curious among you, I’ve also added three new mp3s to the Music section of the site. Two of the songs, “Diana” and “Salvage Cycle Serenade,” are old four-track demos from 2004 that were recently finished up and mixed after a year-and-a-half hibernation period. They’re unlikely to be released elsewhere, but I thought you might like to hear them. Download away!

The third mp3 is a new version of “True Currency,” an old favorite from The Daylight Moon that Andy and I recently re-recorded (once again, in the big room at Emerald City Guitars with the Reverend Eric Daw at the helm) for my friend Steve Turner’s upcoming short film, Mere Sentience. I think it’s finally ready for its big-screen debut, alongside its younger brothers and sisters from the Starboard Meets the Sound EP. Dig it.

The details from our recent triumph at South Park’s County Line Cafe, among other reflections, can be found on the Past Shows page. Many more shows are in the works, including a few out-of-town jaunts as summer arrives. Keep an eye on the Shows page for details.

Hope to see you all at the Green Room next week! Come on—it’s my birthday! Come buy me a beer!
