glad tidings
January 12th, 2006
Hello, folks. It is with great joy that I wish to announce the completion of Red Jacket Mine’s new, semi-live-in-the-makeshift-studio EP, titled Starboard Meets the Sound, to be released at our show on Saturday, January 28 at Seattle’s beloved Mars Bar.
As previously alluded-to, this EP was recorded on two different, but equally wonderful, Sansui six-track cassette recorders. (One had a busted track, so I suppose it was a five-track recorder. But I digress…) All basic tracks were recorded live, with about four total guitar overdubs. Vocals were overdubbed. All tracking took place after hours in the fabulous East Wing of Emerald City Guitars in downtown Seattle’s Pioneer Square. We were recorded, assisted, prodded, and otherwise enabled by the honorable Reverend Eric Daw. All this, and still no bass guitar.
In celebration of this joyous occasion, I’ve posted another mp3 from the EP on the Music page for your downloading pleasure. Joining “Kozy-Mo” (see below) in the sneak-preview section is a tune called “Every Time That I’ve Tried” (mp3). I really hope you all enjoy it. As always, let me know what you think…discuss the new tracks in the Red Jacket Mine forum, or e-mail me!
As before, in an effort to appease those with less patience / disk space, “Every Time That I’ve Tried” is also streaming on our MySpace profile.
We’ve got a smattering of shows coming up, too: I’m playing a solo show at Vancouver, BC’s Candy Bar with my friends Octoberman on Saturday, January 21, we’re playing our CD release party at the Mars Bar with Octoberman and Robert Roth on Saturday, January 28, and we’re playing Fremont’s High Dive with our friends Sweet Jesus on Thursday, February 16. More shows are in the works. All details are available on the Shows page.
Keep an eye on the Music page in the coming days for cover art, a tracklisting, and other information about the forthcoming EP.
