show reminder, site updates, etc.
October 9th, 2005
Hey guys…
Just a reminder: I’ll be playing a solo electric show tomorrow—Monday, October 10—at the Rendezvous’ Jewel Box Theater. The Rendezvous is located at 2322 2nd Ave. in downtown Seattle. I’ll be joined by The Swim Team and Manplus. Music starts at 10pm, and I play first. Cover is $5.
This show is a part of NadaMucho.com’s ongoing New Music Monday series. Thanks to Matt and all at Nada for setting it up. Come out and support new Seattle music!
In site-related news, I just updated the Shows page to include a section for Past Shows / Setlists / Reminiscences. Now, go relive the magic!
Also, I’ve updated the Photos section with some pictures taken at the 9/29 show at the O Lounge. Get a load of that stage! I’ve also updated the Recent Favorites section of the Favorites page, and added a few new links to the—you guessed it—Links page.
In other news, Paul Sorrells will no longer be playing bass for Red Jacket Mine. A gentleman and a scholar, and a damn fine bass player to boot, we hate to see him go, but he’s decided to devote all of his energy to Tableland, his instrumental combo.
While this may seem like quite a blow to Red Jacket Mine’s rising momentum, I’ve taken this opportunity to re-examine what I want Red Jacket Mine to be. As good as it sounded with Paul (and it did sound good—I hate that you all didn’t get to hear it), there are a million three-piece bands out there. I think I’d rather have Red Jacket Mine be something more flexible, where solo electric shows, guitar/drums duo shows, and fifteen-piece chamber ensemble shows are parts of an all-encompassing whole.
So—stay tuned. At the next Red Jacket Mine show, I’ll probably be joined by Andy on drums, auxiliary percussion, and background vocals. Who knows what we’ll come up with next. I promise that it will be music.
xo
