Welcome…really.

Hello, friends.

It’s been a while since we’ve spoken, in most cases, and the last six months have seen great changes here in Red Jacket Mine-land. A brief synopsis follows:

I. Exodus
a. Our narrator and his blushing bride produce exorbitant sums of “fake money” to procure an ark (of sorts) to transport their every earthly possession, and tow their faithful Ford Escort, to the great Northwest.
b. After much travail, Red Bull, and many Trolli Sour Watermelon slices, they arrive in Seattle, Washington, on New Year’s Eve, 2004, and there is great rejoicing.
c. Our narrator and his bride set up camp in their own personal Canaan-land.
II. Reunion
a. Our narrator is reunited with one Andy Salzman, esq., best known to our readers as drummer on five tracks from The Daylight Moon, and there is great rejoicing, but sadly, little else.
b. The aforementioned “little else” is replaced by “frenetic rehearsal.”
III. Pursuance / Psalm
a. When our narrator and Mr. Salzman feel it is appropriate, they begin the search for an appropriate bassist and keyboard player to help make our narrator’s vision of Red Jacket Mine as a “real band” a reality.
b. Meanwhile, our narrator (aided greatly by one Kristopher Hooper, esq., of Vancouver, BC) sets about the formidable task of replacing Red Jacket Mine’s “so 20th century” website with a shiny new one.
c. The aforementioned “appropriate bassist” is found, in the form of one Rich Huston, esq.
d. There is great rejoicing, and frenetic rehearsal.

That pretty much brings us up to the present.

Now that you’re all up to speed, I’m very pleased to welcome you all to the aforementioned shiny new website.

At this new website, you’ll find most of the content (minus the now-thankfully-outdated pictures of our narrator’s portly person) you loved so dearly about the old Red Jacket Mine site, plus new pictures, mp3s (gasp) of BRAND-NEW songs, and a forum in which you can discuss the self-indulgent verbosity of the latest edition of the Red Jacket Mine Newsletter, all in an efficient, attractive, and AD-FREE package.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!!!

Your friends in Red Jacket Mine have joined the hordes of lonely, raccoon-eyed Carpal Tunnel Syndrome-sufferers and set up a MySpace profile, which you can peruse here. At the MySpace site, you can stream four Red Jacket Mine songs (also available on the new website), see new photos (also available on the new website), and meet hot, young singles that share your interests (only available on MySpace). Please, please, please let me get what I want: set up a MySpace account if you haven’t yet (it’s free), and befriend us! Post comments! Please!

You can also find the same basic content at our Pure Volume site, which you can visit here. Post reviews of Red Jacket Mine music! Positive ones would be particularly helpful.

Please let us know what you think of the new songs, the new website, and (especially) the new sunglasses. And use the discussion forum! It’s looking pretty lonely right now.

More updates (photos of all band members, exclusive mp3s, and show dates, to name a few possibilities) are forthcoming. Stay tuned.

As Alex Chilton would say, thank you, friends. Talk to you soon.

LINCOLN
