can can, ball of wax, busy week

Hello!

Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve posted here…I’ve been a very busy man, what with the job hunt, the haircut (soon to make an appearance on this site), the shows, the rocking. I trust you’ve all been well. I’m headed off to work in mere moments, but first, there are a few things you should know about:

We’ve got a great show coming up tomorrow—Tuesday, July 18—at the Can Can cabaret, right below Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market. (E-mail me if you need more detailed directions.) Our good friends Robert Roth and James Hall will be playing an integrated set directly after ours, and it’s sure to be wonderful. Up until recently, James led a rowdy punk rock/soul troupe from New Orleans called the Pleasure Club, and he’s currently working on his first solo album in over ten years. Robert…well, you guys know Robert. Lucky bastards that we are, we share shows with him all of the time, and he’s always top-shelf. Anyway, come out this Tuesday and welcome James back to Seattle! I’ll probably be previewing a few songs from our upcoming record, too, so I invite the curious/skeptical to come have a listen.

Wednesday, I’ll be accompanying the Nathan Wade Orchestra at Tower Records in Queen Anne. Nathan’s a very good friend of mine, and he plays a singular brand of what he calls “post-Apocalypse Americana.” He’s celebrating the release of his brand-new album The Dead Leaves Sing. Come check him out!

Finally, this Thursday, July 20, we’ll be playing a short midnight set at the Sunset Tavern to help celebrate the release of Volume 5 of Levi Fuller’s lovely Ball of Wax Audio Quarterly. We are truly honored to be a part of this compilation and this stellar evening of music…the other great artists appearing at the show can be found on the Shows page. Don’t miss this great opportunity to find beautiful local music…Ball of Wax is beacon in Seattle’s muddled, hyper-saturated music scene, and we feel lucky to have been chosen to be a part of it.

I think that’s it for now. Photos and reflections have finally been posted for our recent shows at the the Crocodile CafĂ© and the Brown Lantern, so head over and check those out. Keep an eye on the Music page this week, too…I’ve got half a mind to post a new demo for you guys.

Hope to see you tomorrow at the Can Can!
